Welcome to the Sir George Cayley Sailwing Club

For Hang Glider and Paraglider Pilots - The Sir George Cayley Sailwing Club was started in 1975 by a group of enthusiasts in the Yorkshire area, and has carried on providing an environment for like minded people to get together and partake in the joy of free flight. Although relatively small in comparison to our surrounding clubs, we provide the same level of coaching and guidance to new pilots fresh out of training school.

Club members enjoy flying along the coast of East and North Yorkshire. It is quite varied for cliff top flying, taking advantage of endless smooth dynamic lift, generated by the air flow from the North sea over the cliffs. The sites vary from 40ft high clay cliffs to the impressive and imposing Bempton chalk cliffs, which rise 400ft out of the sea, allowing 1000ft ASL flights to be enjoyed. Long cliff runs are a regular occurrence when conditions allow, with a 14km return trip from Bridlington to Flamborough Lighthouse, which is one the most picturesque and most often taken routes.
